Jim Altman

 

Jim is currently an audit senior manager in the Greenwood Village office. He has worked on and managed a variety of engagements in the commercial sectors. Experience in the area includes service and retail, manufacturing, distributors, medical practices, golf courses and country clubs, constructions contractors. Additionally, Jim has served as finance director for a national nonprofit organization and brings experience in strategic planning, modeling, staff development and organizational management. Jim was the recipient of the 2006 Colorado Socity of CPAs' "CPAs Who Make a Difference" awards.

Robin Baker

Dr. Robin Baker has more than 15 years of experience conducting research in workforce, family, juvenile justice, gender and minority issues. At the Bell, Ms. Baker focuses on TABOR, affordable housing, health care, minority and gender issues.

Prior to coming to Bell, she founded and was director of the Mesa State College AmeriCorps Project in Grand Junction and taught courses in sociology and human services at Mesa State College. Robin grew up in Hotchkiss, on the Western Slope.

Ms. Baker holds a BA in Sociology from Mesa State College, an MA in Sociology from Utah State University, and a PhD in Social Work from the University of Denver.

Roy Becker

 

Roy Becker is considered one of the leading experts in International Trade and Banking. He has spent the majority of his corporate career working in the international departments of several major banks. During that time, he worked directly with importers and exporters consulting on the intricate banking needs associated with international trade. Companies both large and small hire him to help them reduce risk and improve cash flow for their international transactions. 

 

Roy serves as adjunct faculty in the International MBA programs at the University of Denver and University of Colorado Denver. Ralph M. Benson

Ralph was born in New York and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and is a graduate of Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Private & Commercial Recreation Management with a minor in Business Marketing. He received additional education from the Federated Department Stores’ Executive Training Program and the Disney Institute, Customer Service Training Program. Ralph has earned the CSA designation from Society of Certified Senior Advisors and currently represents Society of Certified Senior Advisors.

Prior to joining Society of Certified Senior Advisors, Ralph was a top-performing Sales Executive for Walt Disney Art Classics, Mikasa China & Crystal, Hyde Park Jewelers, and Federated Departments Stores (Bullocks). He is an award-winning sales leader possessing demonstrated experience and success in new business development, sales management, public speaking, product marketing and driving repeat business.

Bo Brustkern

Having spent more than seven years in venture capital and private equity, and the balance of his career in entrepreneurship, Bo understands valuation from both sides of the negotiating table. Prior to forming Arcstone, Bo was an investor at Rustic Canyon Partners in Silicon Valley and BACE Industries in Denver. He recently played a senior role at Corefino, a leading finance & accounting outsourcing company based in Sunnyvale, CA. Throughout his career, Bo has founded, co-founded, advised and/or invested in a variety of businesses, both tech-oriented and otherwise.

Bo holds an MBA with distinction from The Anderson School at UCLA, where he graduated as a Deutschman Venture Fellow, and a BA from Dartmouth College.

Patty DeLucas

Patty is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER  professional+, with over 29 years of professional experience including eight years in the securities industry.  Her background includes Manager with a Big Four CPA firm, five years as the Finance and Operations Manager for a securities broker, and she served as President of the Colorado Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).  Patty obtained her business degree from Colorado State University.  She also holds an active CPA license (not in public practice).  Patty and her husband Ken live in Genesee with their two sons, Scott and Mark, and are active members of the community.

Carla Elam-Floyd

Carla Elam-Floyd is the Manager of Human Resources for Denver Water.  She has overall responsibility for activities related to recruitment, hiring, employee relations, affirmative action, benefits, training, human resources information systems, and health promotion.  She is also an adjunct professor for Webster University where she teaches course in Human Resources Management, Staffing and Organization Development.

With over 20 years experience in organization analysis, management, strategic planning and human resources, Carla has spoken to a variety of audiences on human resources, organization development, diversity and historically under-utilized business issues. 

Carla holds a MBA from the University of Phoenix, a  BS in marketing and BA in French from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and a degree in French literature, government, and translations from the University of Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France.  Carla is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Internal Auditor. 

She is an active member of her church.  Carla was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado and has traveled extensively in the United States, Western Europe, Australia, China, Japan, Mexico and Eastern Africa.

Brian J. Friedman

Brian has nearly 15 years of experience in the field of investment management and economic research. Prior to joining GHPIA eight years ago, he was a U.S. Equity Portfolio Manager with Owen-Joseph Asset Management and served as a U.S. & International Equity Analyst for Founders Asset Management, a Denver-based mutual fund company. Before entering the investment business, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Brookings Institution, a leading public policy think tank in Washington, D.C.

Brian earned a BA in Economics from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a lecturer in economics at the University of Colorado. He is also active in a number of organizations including a board member of the Anti-Defamation League, a member of the Jewish Community Foundation Investment Committee, the Israel National and Overseas Board of the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, and on the Council for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Michael M. Gutesha

Mike is a Certified Public Accountant with Masters in Taxation from the University of Colorado. His areas of experience include tax efficiency solutions, state & local taxes, tax planning and compliance. Gaylen R. Hansen

Gaylen Hansen has over 30 years of experience in SEC accounting, auditing and reporting and is an audit partner at Ehrhardt Keefe Steiner & Hottman.  Gaylen is a member and immediate past president of the Colorado State Board of Accountancy and the Mountain Region Director of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy where he serves on numerous advisory committees, including Strategic Intiatives and International Professional Standards.  

In addition, Gaylen is a member of the Professional Ethics Executive Committee, a senior AICPA technical body charged with promulgating and enforcing ethics and independence rulings.  He is also a member of PEEC’s network firm and significant public interest entity task forces that are charged with converging U.S. ethics standards in those areas with IFAC’s.  In addition, he is an apointee to the Standing Advisory Group which advises the PCAOB on auditing and related professional practice standards. 

Gaylen is a graduate of Califonia State Polytechnic University, Pomona and holds an MBA in international business from California State University, Fullerton.  He has lived in Colorado since 1979 and currently resides in Evergreen.

Raven Henderson

 

Raven Henderson is a professional trainer and consultant with a diverse background in accounting, auditing, and finance.  Her experience includes financial reporting, internal audit management, consulting and training, risk assessment, and organizational leadership.  She has been in the internal auditing profession for over ten years auditing non-profits, mortgage operations, capital markets, mortgage-backed securities, financial services, human resources, and corporate affairs (budgeting, procurement, purchase cards, travel, etc.).  She has assisted several Fortune 500 companies in establishing an internal audit department, redesigning internal audit processes, and developing and implementing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) programs. 

Raven has been a facilitator for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) since 2001 instructing courses in communication techniques, interview skills, leadership skills, audit report writing, financial statements audits, IIA standards, skills for beginning and experienced auditors, enterprise risk management, internal controls, corporate governance, and operational auditing.

Before starting Raven Lane, LLC, offering training and consulting services in Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Control Design & Analysis, Raven was a Consultant for Jefferson Wells and a Senior Manager at Protiviti.  As a consultant, Raven served as an Interim CAE for a non-profit healthcare services company, a Deputy General Auditor for a non-profit scientific research firm, and multiple internal audit managerial positions for financial services clients. She also held internal audit positions with Freddie Mac, in McLean Virginia, Bank of America (formerly NationsBank), in Charlotte, North Carolina, and with Philip Morris in Richmond, Virginia.  She also served as the Accounting Manager for a manufacturing company in Ashland, Virginia.

Raven received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University located in Richmond.  She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.  She’s an active member of The IIA, including serving in President, Board Member, and chairperson positions for the NOVA and Charlotte chapters since 1998.  She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Currently based out of the Washington DC area, Raven enjoys vacationing in the Bahamas, spending time with her family, and spoiling her two dogs.

Alex Hodgkin


Alex has valued hundreds of companies for a multitude of purposes: transactional, regulatory and otherwise.  Prior to forming Arcstone, Alex spent his career valuing companies in transaction-rich environments such as Salomon Smith Barney's investment banking division, Headwaters Merchant Bank, and Nexus Advisors, a boutique M&A advisory firm which Alex himself founded.


Alex holds the Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) designation from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), as well as degrees in Economics from Claremont McKenna College and Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Robert B. Hottman

 

Bob Hottman is the chief executive officer of EKS&H and has been providing accounting and advisory services for individuals, closely-held businesses and public companies in the manufacturing, distribution, real estate, hospitality, club and service industries since 1977. He has vast experience in helping clients develop strategic plans, improve operations, develop information systems, and plan for change and growth. He has served as an expert witness in various litigation cases. Bob has a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in accounting from Colorado State University. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Dennis Johnson

 

Dennis Johnson's experience prior to Nordstrom fsb includes IRS revenue agent, software quality assurance manager, and accounting manager for an insurance fund. In addition to the CPA, CISA, and CIA designations, he holds an NASD Series Six license. Dennis has been a resident of Colorado for over 30 years and enjoys skiing and other outdoor activities. Dennis Keglosvits

 

Dennis is a Managing Director with over twenty years of specialized audit and consulting experience in both the internal audit and public accounting settings.  He currently serves as the Practice Leader for the Risk Management group in the Midwest, responsible for managing all aspects of the risk management function.  In addition to his leadership role, Dennis also serves as the client service coordinator on some of the firm’s key accounts, both domestically and internationally.  Dennis formerly served as the firm’s National Director for the Risk Management Services practice, responsible for the development of the firm’s overall strategy related to the delivery of risk management services, including applicable methodologies, tool kits, resources, and quality assurance. Victoria is a Certified Public Accountant, with a Masters of Taxation from University of Denver. Chris Miller is a Practice Director with Parson Consulting. Chris has over sixteen years of industry and consulting experience, and has implemented process improvement and system solutions for clients in the financial services, homebuilding, telecommunications, energy, services, pharmaceutical and consumer products industries. Kevin O'Brien

 

Kevin O’Brien is a CPA and attorney teaching as an associate professor in the Business Ethics and Legal Studies department of the Daniels College of Business. He has an advanced degree in taxation at New York University and served as a revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service. His research interests involved professional ethics, legal liability associated with employment decisions, whistle blowing, technology/electronic commerce, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and the science of teaching. Professor O’Brien teaches principally the portal Values Based Leadership course that analyzes the key executive decisions from ethical and legal points of view.

Benjamin Powell

Since receiving his PhD from George Mason University in 2003, Dr. Powell has authored more than 30 scholarly papers and edited two books. His research has been reported in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and dozens of other popular outlets.

Dr. Powell makes regular appearances on television and radio shows, having appeared on outlets ranging in diversity from news sources such as MSNBC to Penn and Teller's Showtime series "Bullshit." He has written on immigration for the popular press, appeared on KQED's television documentary on immigration, and spoke publicly on the issue dozens of times."

Timothy M. Ross

Tim is a Certified Public Accountant with vast experience at the Big-4 level. With experience from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC and Ernst & Young, LLC, Tim has been responsible for managing all aspects of the client relationship including review of FASB 109 tax accrual calculations and consultation in regard to domestic and international tax issues. Tim developed and managed relationships with clients and proactively identified and presented tax opportunities while actively coordinating and teaming with the specialist groups.

Sam B. Rovit

Sam B. Rovit became the President and Chief Executive Officer of Swift & Company in July 2005. With nearly $10 billion in annual sales, Swift & Company Is the 3rd largest processor of fresh beef and pork in the U.S. and the largest beef processor in Australia.

Prior to joining Swift, he was a partner at Bain & Company, a management consulting firm. He joined Bain in 1988, was elected to partnership in 1995, and ultimately headed the firm’s global mergers and acquisition practice.

He is an accomplished author -- Mr. Rovit's most recent works have been published by The Wall Street Journal, MIT/Sloan Review and Harvard Business School Press.

Mr. Rovit received his MBA from Harvard Business School; was awarded a Masters of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, where he studied Military Strategy and International Business; and graduated with honors from Duke University with a BA in Public Policy.

Marilyn Sudbeck

Marilyn Sudbeck, CPA is a Certified QuickBooks Trainer, one of about 12 in the US. She is certified in all versions of QuickBooks including QuickBooks Financial, QuickBooks Point-of-Sale and QuickBooks Enterprise. She is a member of Intuit’s Retail Solutions Provider Program (about 180 members), Intuit’s Enterprise Solutions Provider Program (about 80 members) and Intuit’s Accountants Speaker Program (about 90 members). In May 2004, QuickBooks prepared a case study of Marilyn’s work with the Point-of-Sale system and mailed the information to 70,000 accountants across the United States. She is also a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Certified Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor and a member of the Sleeter Group Certified QuickBooks Consultants.

Marilyn is a CPA in private practice. The primary focus of her business is consulting and individualized training in QuickBooks. Since she does not do taxes, audit or write-up, she frequently works with CPA firms without being in competition with them.

She has been using and teaching QuickBooks since 1996 and teaches a monthly QuickBooks class at the New Horizons Computer Learning Centers in Broomfield and the Denver Tech Center.

Marilyn has a bachelor’s degree to teach math from the University of Nebraska, master’s degree in Advertising Management from the University of Denver. Her coursework for her CPA license was taken at Metropolitan State College.
